Moving The Studio
This is the space where I create paintings…
I’ve used this same cloth draped over boards since we moved to the hi-desert 12 years ago. So far my studio has been in Gamma Gulch, Yucca Valley and now in Joshua Tree.
This last weekend my studio moved from our one car garage (we call it “the lounge”) into the house. I prefer painting in the same space where I normally live. Going out into the studio isn’t the same as when the studio is in the middle of the living room, always present. Not to mention that it’ll be warmer and cozier to paint inside this winter.
Back when we lived in Long Beach our studio was always in the middle of the living room – it’s just the way we rolled. Always creating.
Now that arrangement is back after we realized we needed the studio inside. We’ve lived in this house now for four years and just this last month we had a discussion about what was missing creatively in our living arrangement. We discussed how we used to have a studio in the living room and decided to do that again… now the house feels complete!
