The Story of Michael the Fly:
A Field Recording
Michael the Fly had heard about the human world, and he wanted to explore it. And so he found a house, and when the door opened, he flew inside.
The human in the house was a guy named George. George did not like flies. Flies bothered George immensely, and when this new fly had flown in the house. He thought he’d try and get rid of it, but he was unsuccessful. And the fly landed high up on the wall, up by the ceiling, and spent his time observing George.
George was the kind of guy who had several pets, several dogs he treated very well, and the dogs loved George, and George loved the dogs, and he fed them, and he petted them, and they slept at his feet. And the fly named Michael was very interested in becoming George’s pet.
And so, in an effort to become George’s pet, he started to fly down around George’s head and land on George’s arm to try and get George’s attention. George did not take it that way. George did not like flies, and he would swat at Michael every time Michael flew around his head and landed on his on his arm.
But Michael, Michael was determined. Michael was determined to become George’s pet. He spent a good ,part of his lifetime attempting to become George’s pet until the following day when he was resting on the wall, and George noticed him. And for a moment, he leaned forward and kind of looked at the fly. But he hated flies, and he took his newspaper that was rolled up in his hand and swatted at the fly, and Michael died feeling unconditional love for George.
