SOUNDSCAPES & MUSIC
I’ve been making sound collages/soundscapes/music since 1984.
Back in the day I was in a couple bands playing synthesizer.
Since then I’ve worked on my own projects – mainly UFOverdriver,
an experimental sound collage project that started in 2010 and has now mutated completely…
You can find all of UFOverdriver’s extensive catalog on Bandcamp.
LATEST FROM UFOVERDRIVER:
The title track is an adaptation of a spiritual classic… first came the drum beat that made me think about the Rolling Stones 1972 song “I Just Want To See His Face.” During the course of recording… things went a little sideways – and the song ended up sounding nothing like the Stones version… but then I cut up the lyrics from that Stones song and switched the words around – taking a very UFOverdriver approach to the song. The result is a groovy mashup of music that pays homage to the old classic.
On the B-side is a short, original prose poem about shadows in the night. There’s something very David Lynchian about this one…

THE BROTHERSHIP HAS LANDED
In late Winter of 2010, I started working on this sound collage. UFOverdriver had just begun and this was it’s first full length album… I poured everything I had into this album during March of that year, and released this epic work in late March. I’ve never been able to create another piece like it… yet.
Here’s the albums description:
What happens when you cut-up and re-mix Pink Floyd’s classic 1977 album Animals with Bob Marley, Johnny Cash, Leonard Cohen, David Bowie, David Byrne and Brian Eno, DJ John Digweed and other musical slices along with a number of sound clips from the mass media and popular culture? You get a snap shot of current events in the form of an epic sound collage by UFOverdriver called The Brothership Has Landed…
This sound collage was constructed in 3 Acts between March 5th and March 17th, 2010 – and the completed piece contains 12 individual tracks, with a total length of nearly 44 minutes long.
THE NEAR HEAVEN ORCHESTRA
My other main project is The Near Heaven Orchestra, less experimental, more soundtrack music… sort of.
You can find all of The Near Heaven Orchestra’s albums on Bandcamp.

ON A PLEASENT DISTANT PLANET
Journey to a pleasant distant planet with The Near Heaven Orchestra…
A haunted whistle, smokey rooms, saxophones and violins, dreams and starships, lonesome harmonicas under epic western skies, tender guitars, steady drum beats and a hi-desert vibe… landscapes of sound, dreamscapes, textured, abstract and ambient.
On A Pleasant Distant Planet (song list and poem)
the air hummed with stillness
in smoky rooms
under the star field
on a desert run
aboard the western starship
where dreams will drift
on a pleasant distant planet
during the afterglow
then comes the moment
Released in February 2020, just a month before the pandemic hit… we had no idea.
