Meanwhile There Were Dragons
My third novel was an interesting one, to be sure…
I started with dragons and a wizard, and mixed in chapters about ice hockey.
Then came along an ancient, mind-controlling cephalopod whose just woken up from a 15,000 year slumber…
oh my – what a combination!
I called it a modern fairytale for adults.
Meanwhile there is a plot about finding the dragons as we follow the story of Paige Turner,
but the book is also about a strange wizard named Jonas,
with a collection of more interesting characters along the way, more than you can shake a stick at…
I think this novel had more characters than any book I’ve written.
I mean, I went over the top… but it worked.
The book is illustrated with sketch-drawings by Joshua Tree local artist Zara Kand.
This book was another one I wrote rather quickly, just a month from start to finish,
less than a year after my first novel was published. I was on a tear…
We lived at a cabin in the hills of Yucca Valley from 2017 to 2021 we called The Outpost.
This place, for some reason, was very conducive to writing. I was able to complete 4 novels there along with a few other books.
Some spaces just seem to work for certain creative activities… and The Outpost was a writing zone!
