The Stute Collection
This piece was in a short film in the late 1990s. The film was called “Rockin Chair” and was written and directed by a friend of ours, Michael Stute. The film played at the New York Film Festival in 1999. This painting played the part, along with several other paintings of mine, of the art work of the main character. After the filming was over Michael acquired the piece.
I had forgotten I painted this piece until Michael sent me this photo of it last Sunday. I had contacted him about another piece I thought he had, but he had this piece instead… my memories can be so faulty sometimes. Having this photo of this painting is like a prodigal son returning. I’m overjoyed to see it again! But it leaves me wondering if there are others I don’t remember out there…
The original title of this piece is lost to the winds of time. Michael says he calls it “The Redheaded Woman”, so that’s its title now.
