This is the supper of liberation, and it was the last supper of Jesus. This event had profound significance in both the Old and New Testament of the Bible. Having been influenced by Christianity since I was a child the themes deeply familiar to me sometimes came across in my work, and this is one of those times.

This was also a further exploration of the themes of still life painting and painting interiors… with the green wall and table legs in a red interior. There is an orange on the table… they represent various things like new beginnings, health, prosperity, good luck, the Trinity in some traditions, and on the Passover Seder plate they symbolize inclusion and equality… at the time I didn’t know this – many of my still life paintings had oranges in them so I continued the theme here. Turns out they are very symbolic!

We still have this piece.
